The P1 Power Boat season is over - and Team Lucas Oil has finished in 6th place in the Championship.
Overall Shelley is pretty happy with that, especially given the engine gremlins, mechanical breakdowns and extremely rough weather which all made her first season in Powerboat P1 Evolution Class an interesting one.
As the season came to a close in Portugal Shelley said a big thank you to her team owner and throttleman, Nigel Hook for putting his faith in her as a rookie female driver.
The P1 Championship has raced in all conditions around some fascinating venues in Europe. Shelley says she’s certainly learnt a vast amount in her first season as she made the huge jump from her Honda 225 race boat racing in the UK to the powerful 38 foot mercury-powered Skater.
Shelley is now looking forward to the 2009 season and the drive to achieve her ambition of a first World title.
