New Year Update

02 Jan 2006

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year to you all from Team Raymarine!

A quick update for you all as January is a very busy time for Libby and I.  It all starts this week when we will be at the London Boat Show.

I actually start at the silly hour of 6am on Friday 6th January at the London Boat Show where I will be co-presenting BBC Radio Solent Breaksfast show with Julian Clegg live from the boat show- yes believe it or not they have let me out on my own!!

Libby and I can then be found on the Formula Four Stroke Honda Racing stand and of course the Raymarine Stand!

Our lovely championship winning boat will also be there in all its glory looking highly polished - thank you once again to our sponsors the Marine Valeting Company who cleaned it over Christmas in between their drinking sessions!

The boat will be outside of the East Entrance in front of the big Raymarine advert.

Friday evening Libby and I will be putting on our glad rags again for the IPC Marine Awards, where the winner of the Yachtsman of the Year Award will be presented.  Thank-you to everyone who voted for us, it certainly worked,  I am not sure we are going to beat a certain remarkable lady sailor but just to be short listed to the final 3 was amazing and to be there on Friday with Steve Curtis (7 times class 1 World Champion) and Martin Sanders - General Manager Honda UK Power Equipment will be a great honour and very good for the sport of powerboat racing.

Saturday 7th, we are still celebrating Yachtsman of the Year Award with press calls and lunch on HMS Grafton - what a life!

A week later we will be collecting our beautiful trophies for the Honda Championships at the Savoy Hotel for the annual Honda Racing Awards.  Libby and I are looking forward to spending the evening with all the sponsors, friends and our families and celebrating in style!

Some very exciting news is that I have been sponsored by a fantastic web company - Wight 365 and at the beginning of January we should be going live with teamraymarine.com check it out - very stylish, lots of pictures and dvds and lots of press articles! Thank-you very much to Kate Hobart who has worked very hard with all my garbled information.

As soon as we have finished living it up and the boat is back we will start on quite a vigorous training program and also the boat is going to have big refurb and check up, as soon as we can we wil be back out on the water and getting ready for the first race  which should be May.  The racing calender should be confirmed by the end of January and I will let you know asap.

Thank-you once again for all your support, Libby and I are ready and looking forward to another superb racing year!

Love Shelley
