Just to let you know Libby and I have not got off the rollercoaster yet!!
There have been quite a few articles in the press about the championship win by the ladies, and some excellent photos - I was glad to see that some of the sponsors logos got some good coverage in the press! Lots of things happening over the winter months - I will try to keep you updated.
First of all I would like to ask you all a small favour - I have been nominated for the Raymarine Yachtsman of the Year Award, and although I am up against contenders such as Dame Ellen McArthur there is no harm in trying - so if you could spare a little time would you vote for me at www.raymarine.com before the 4th November 05.
It is quite easy go to the home page - under Whats New at Raymarine you will see Raymarine YJA Awards click there - and then on the right hand side - submit your nominations for Yachtsman of the Year.
The details that you will need are:
Name - Shelley Jory
Address - 6, Barnes Lane, Sarisbury Green, Southampton, Hampshire. SO31 7BZ
Achievement - e.g Shelley Jory is this years British Honda 225hp Powerboat Champion, winning the series alongside her female navigator Libby Keir. Shelley drove the only all girl team competing in the Honda series to an incredible victory , running away with the title ahead of all the boys!!
Or something of that nature - that bit is up to you. Thank-you.
Now more news - We are having a fabulous Web Site built for us - courtesy of Wight 365 - which is looking very professional already! We are going to have links to all our sponsors web sites on there - I will let you know when we are up and running.
Libby and I are going to be auctioned off - quite literally. BBC Children In Need contacted me and asked if the new champions- Team Raymarine would be able to offer a "money can't buy experience" for the BBC Great Big Bid. Other auction prizes include training days with the likes of David Beckham, Nick Faldo, Greg Rudeski so this could be pretty exciting! With the help of Honda we have been able to offer a fantastic auction prize. It is all top secret at the moment so you will have to watch BBC1 Sunday 13th November time tbc. but they say prime time so I guess the evening! and see Libby and I in all are refinery at the BBC Gala Ball complete with the Race Boat on stage!
LIbby and I have both started fitness programs for the winter so we keep that winning technique up - I am training with Neil Holmes twice a week - Neil has tailor made a really good program all based around powerboat racing - arm strengthening, reaction testing etc - loads of fun! Libby is even more stupid than I am because she is planning on doing a triathlon next year before the race season starts!! go for it girl!!
The Channel 4 Honda Race Programs start on the 19th October - I have listed below all the transmission details that we know so far - it has been a nightmare trying to find the times of the programs, when you see the time of the first program you will know why someone was keeping it quiet - set your video recorders!! I have seen the rushes of these programs and they are going to be well worth watching - Libby and I feature quite highly and in good form as usual!
Largs - 19th October 02.50
Isle of Man - 26th October time tbc
Plymouth - 2nd November time tbc
Liverpool - 6th November 08.00
Guernsey - 20th November 08.00
Well that's all folks - thank-you once again for all your continued support - many of the sponsors have already renewed their contracts with us for next year which is brilliant.
