BBC South Sportswomen of the Year Nomination

Just thought I would let you all know - un-beknown to me I was nominated for BBC South Sportswomen of the Year.
Last night I attended the Gala Dinner at the Grand De Verre Hotel in Southampton -unfortunately I was the runner up and a lovely girl Claire Wright - trampolinist won it but it was certainly very nice to be recognised and great PR for the sport of Powerboat Racing.
I had a lovely evening as I was sat with Julian Clegg the presenter from BBC Radio Solent, and as most of you know my conversations with Julian are usually about 4 mins long and very early in the morning! We also had the SOLOS Speedway team from the Isle of Wight on the table - so watch this space you may see me on a motorbike yet as they are determined to get me on the track!
Well the boat, Libby and I are all on our winter training program - I am trying to go to the gym with Neil and keep all the upper body strength and fitness up, the boat is now off the water and is having a small refurb - the boat is actually in great condition considering the hammering it went through this year! Libby is also trying to keep the fitness up too and seems to walk miles to work everyday! So everything is on track for Libby and I to go and defend our title next year!
I will be in touch again in January to let you know how we get on in the Raymarine Yachtsman of the Year Award we have been shortlisted to the final 3!! We will be attending the very posh do at the London Boat Show - the IPC Marine Media Awards. Then a week later we will be attending the Honda Gala Awards at the Savoy Hotel - what a social life. Libby and I will also be frequently passing through the London Boat Show as you do, so if you are there please come and say hello, we will be on the new F4SA Honda Racing Stand or the Raymarine stand!
